What is our Basic Approach?

The guidelines below are the methods we use in each tutoring session:

  1. Academic Improvement in the subjects for which the student has requested help.

  2. Communication and confidence building with your student over the course of the tutoring sessions by providing a one-on-one support system. Tutors will foster relationships using whatever methods will help your student discover the confidence needed to improve.

  3. Character building is an important part of the tutoring process to achieve long-term success. Tutors are not seeking academic improvement only. We strive to build lifelong character skills such as optimism, curiosity, motivation, self-control, grit, learning from failure and many more.

How are the tutoring sessions structured?

  1. Chit Chat - A few minutes of chit chat helps your student to relax and think about goals of each session.

  2. Working with your student - During each session, the tutor will help your student in the subject areas requested. Tutors will not provide answers but will help your student learn how to break assignments into manageable parts. Each session is unique and focuses on the individual need of each student.

  3. Using the Student's Material - Students should come prepared to each session with any materials provided from their instructor. Students should think ahead and do their best to organize their questions to get the most out of each session.

  4. Wrapping up the Tutoring Session - Tutors will review the main points of the tutoring session, provide the student with next steps to work through on their own, document the current tutoring session and discuss ways to prepare for the next session.
