Tutee Code of Conduct

Description

Lake-Sumter State College takes pride in all it does to ensure that participants of the Youth Development Tutoring Program have a safe, secure and quality session. You, the participant, are key to making this happen. Proper standards of conduct are necessary to protect the health, safety and well-being of all staff and participants. It is impossible to itemize every rule of conduct governing each circumstance, so please use good judgment in your actions. The following actions are not acceptable:

  • Disruptive behavior of any kind.
  • Discourtesy to staff.
  • Disregarding the instructions of the tutor.
  • Making indecent or sexual remarks or gestures to anyone.
  • Creating or contributing to unsanitary conditions.
  • No profanity.

In addition, the tutee will adhere to the following guidelines:

  • Be prepared for each tutoring session and arrive on time.
  • Bring textbooks, syllabus, tests, notes, previous papers, current assignments, and any other material that will help the tutor understand what needs to be accomplished.
  • Pre-register for each tutoring session as sessions are available by appointment only.
  • Expect the tutor to ask questions and make suggestions.
  • Not expect your tutor to do work that you should do.
  • Understand that tutorial services are supplementary to my classroom instruction and not a substitute for it. My tutor will not teach material I missed by not attending class.
  • Be open to trying new learning strategies
