In Partnership between Lake-Sumter State College and the Fulcrum Clinical Laboratories, Inc.

This program was designed to give Phlebotomy students practical experience working with real patients.This class will include supervised, unpaid assignments at an area Medical Center to gain practical experience. Students will perform “live sticks.” Students must attend the mandatory orientation in order to begin the supervised unpaid assignments.

Note: Hours and assignments will be based on availability and will be discussed with each student at the mandatory orientation. Students must be available Monday-Friday between the hours of 4:00 AM - 10:00 AM. Assignments are usually within the two weeks following orientation. *Students must be willing to travel throughout the Central Florida area to complete assignments.*

Applicants for the Phlebotomy Practical course must: 1) Have a high school diploma or equivalent; 2) Be 18 years of age; and 3) Have successful completion of a recognized Phlebotomy program within thelast 12 months OR successful completion of a related certificate program (must be approved by Admissions Committee) OR a minimum of one-year work experience in related field.

Prerequisites: Prior to the beginning of the course, students must have a PPD (Tuberculosis) test.Students should turn in the results along with the signed Code of Conduct, Communicable Disease Attestation Form and the Student Travel Form when registering for the course. Space is limited.
